VRA Sweeps Three (3) Prestigious Awards at the 2020 Ghana Energy Awards

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has proven its dominance in the energy sector by sweeping three (3) prestigious awards at the 2020 Ghana Energy Awards.

The awards presented to the VRA were: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year (Power), Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the Year, and Outstanding COVID-19 Task Force.

The CEO of the Year (Power) award is in recognition of the exceptional leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, Chief Executive of VRA, which has kept employees of the Authority safe, working, paid and informed during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic while steering the organization on the path of growth and profitability.

Mr. Antwi-Darkwa beat the Managing Director of ECG, Mr. Kwame Agyeman-Budu; CEO of GRIDCo, Ing. Jonathan Amoako-Baah; CEO of SunPower Innovations, Mr. Ernest Amissah; CEO of Bui Power Authority, Mr. Fred Oware; and CEO of Meinergy Technology, Mr. Kevin Wu to win the coveted award for the second consecutive year.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the Year award is in recognition of the Authority’s outstanding contribution and commitment to overcoming the challenges presented by COVID-19 to ensure the well-being of the general public through immense efforts to give back to society.

The Outstanding COVID-19 Task Force award, on the other hand, is in acknowledgement of VRA’s unrivalled commitment to ensuring the safety of its workforce and work locations in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Board Chairman and former Chief Executive of VRA, Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi, was also decorated with the “Lifetime Achievement” Award for his immense contribution to Ghana’s Power Sector.

The Chief Executive of VRA, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa led the delegation from VRA to receive the awards.
