VRA Unveils Busts in Honour of Former Chief Executives

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has unveiled life-sized busts of four former Chief Executives, namely, Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Laud Quartey, Ing. Dr. Louis Casely-Hayford, Mr. Alexander Erasmus Kwabla Kalitsi and Ing. Gilbert Ohene Dokyi in honour of their enormous contributions to the operations of the Authority.

The event, which was part of activities marking the Authority’s 60th anniversary celebration, was held at the Akosombo Generating Station (AGS), Akosombo, Kpong Generating Station (KGS), Akuse and Takoradi Thermal Power Station (TTPS), Aboadze.  The busts of Ing. Dr. Emmanuel Laud Quartey and Mr. Alexander Erasmus Kwabla Kalitsi were unveiled at AGS, while those of Ing. Dr. Louis Casely-Hayford and Ing. Gilbert Ohene Dokyi were unveiled at KGS and TTPS respectively.

The Minister for Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, who was the Special Guest, lauded the Authority for the initiative, and urged Management to continue to put in place measures that would position the Authority as the leader of the power industry in Ghana and within the sub region.

The Chief Executive of the VRA, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, on his part, acknowledged the significant roles which the past Chief Executives played in the expansion and transformation programmes of the VRA, and noted their immense contribution to a number of “firsts” by the Authority in the power sector in Ghana.

Present at the event were the Deputy Chief Executives and Management of the VRA, past Chief Executives and Directors, families of the past Chief Executives being honoured, Traditional Authorities and Staff of the VRA.
