Akosombo International School Wins "Your World Video Competition" 2022 Global Award

The British Council Partner Schools “Your World Video Competition” is a video competition that allows students to showcase their talents and compete with their peers, from all over the world, to find solutions to the climate crisis confronting the world today.

For the past seven years, British Council has been organizing this competition for its Partner Schools. In October 2021, the Council invited students who took UK qualifications examinations (IGCSE/GCSE/O and A-Levels) to participate in the Seventh Edition of the annual Partner Schools ‘Your World Video Competition.’ Akosombo International School, being a Partner School, participated in the competition.

AIS entered the competition 4 years ago and has been a four-time Continental Winner (Africa) and two-time Regional Winner(Sub-Saharan Africa).

This year, the school entered the competition once again with five (5) other Ghanaian schools, though AIS was the only school from Ghana that qualified to the Global stage. Excitingly AIS emerged as the first time Global Winner for 2022, having competed with over 3000 students from 36 countries.

This year's competition was under the theme, "URBAN LIVING; SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES."

The five students who represented AIS are; Master Koel Edem Ashigbey (SHS 2), Master Paul Nyaabah Adigvom (SHS 2), Miss Iris Nana Akua Ntiwaa Nti (SHS 2), Miss Goldie Naadu Addico (SHS 3), and Master Nana Kwaku Amoako (SHS 3).

The team’s activities were coordinated by the Assistant Headmistress, Academic, Mrs. Sarah Freda Adei.

The Chief Executive, Management and Staff of VRA would like to congratulate the students for lifting the name of AIS high, and by extension, promoting the VRA Brand at the Global level. Appreciation goes to the Headmaster, Management and staff of the School for nurturing the students in the right direction. Special gratitude is also extended to Mrs. Sarah Adei, for her unrelenting efforts in preparing the students and coordinating their activities to achieve such an enviable feat.
