Gambian Delegation Pays Benchmark Visit to VRA Management

A business delegation from the State-Owned Enterprise Department (SOED), of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MOFEA) of The Gambia, has paid a day’s benchmark visit to the Volta River Authority (VRA), to draw lessons from the Authority’s rich operational experience and business successes.

The 11-member Gambian delegation was in Ghana to understudy the operations of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) and some key state institutions to be abreast with SOE monitoring, reporting, governance structures and performance appraisal systems.

The delegation, which was led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Moda Secka, visited VRA at the behest of SIGA to study at firsthand, business modules and matrix that have made the Authority a force to reckon with in the energy sector over the past 61 years.

Other members of the delegation included: Mr. Momodou Taal, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Bai Madi Ceesay, Director – DSOE, Baboucarr Jobe, Director Macroeconomic Policy, Mr. Mustapha Samateh, Director of Budget, Ms. Mariama Jeng, Principal Financial Analyst, Ms. Chilel Ceesay, Principal Economist. Others were Mr. Yankuba Ceesay, Senior Financial Analyst, Mr. Alagie Malick Jeng, Senior Economist, Mr. Abdoulie Gaye, Senior Loans Officer and Mr. Ousman Momodou Njie, Governance Specialist GFMDP.

The VRA team that held the discussions with them was led by the Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, Deputy Chief Executive, Engineering and Operations, Mr. Edward Obeng-Kenzo, Deputy Chief Executive, Finance, Mr. Ebenezer Tagoe, Advisor, Office of the Chief Executive, Dr. Mrs. I. Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Director, Corporate Strategy, Mr. Clement Boakye and Manager, Corporate Strategy and Planning, Mr. Kofi Barima Peprah.
