VRA International Schools Urged to Make Entrepreneurial Education Part of Curriculum
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Professor Joshua Alarbi has urged the Management of VRA International Schools to make entrepreneurial education part of the school's curriculum. He said government alone cannot provide employment to the teaming mass of youth who graduate from the various levels of our educational system every year.
Speaking on the theme: "Empowering the youth for national development" at the 2014 Senior High School graduation ceremony of the VRA schools at Akosombo, Professor Joshua Alarbi underscored the fact that not all youth can be absorbed into the formal sector of employment hence the need for entrepreneurial training at all levels of educational system.
"Introducing an entrepreneurial course will help reduce the unemployment rate among the youth and thereby help them to contribute meaningfully to the country's development," he said.
Professor Alarbi advised the graduands to pursue knowledge in all their endeavours since it will aid them to eschew evil.
The Headmaster of Secondary Education of VRA International Schools, Mr. Julius Kog-Der said even though the VRA International Schools pride itself in its numerous achievements, it is bedevilled with huge infrastructure deficit which put the school in a disadvantaged position.
He noted that the most challenging is the schools' inability to admit large number of applicants who seek admission.
"As more and more applicants keep seeking admission into our school, and as VRA is pursuing the process of restructuring to eventually set the school up as a business unit, the need to put up more classrooms, dormitories, dining facility and a state of the art assembly hall becomes more imperative," he indicated.
He disclosed that the school had helped the graduands to acquire knowledge and skills that would ultimately come in handy wherever they find themselves after school.
The Manager of Zenith Bank, Tema Community 1 Branch and 1988 Group Old Student of Akosombo International School, Mrs Cynthia Amartefio, who welcomed the graduands into the fold of the old students of the VRA Schools urged them to be good ambassadors of the school wherever they find themselves.
