VRA Ladies Association Supports Labone Bostal Homes

The Greater Accra regional branch of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Ladies Association has presented assorted food items and toiletries valued at Two Thousand Cedis (GHc2,000.00) to three Correctional Institutions under the Department of Social Welfare of the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Association, President of the Accra VRA Ladies Association, Mrs. Esther Agbo indicated the presentation was made as a result of the Association's commitment to support the less privileged in society.

Speaking to the inmates she encouraged them not to be disturbed about their current predicament. She urged them to be determined to reform so they could rejoin their families back home. She reminded them of the adage: "Children are the future of a country," and entreated them to eschew all social vices and be committed to their studies and vocations in order to be responsible grown-ups.

The Centre Manageress, Madam Georgina Mensah, expressed her appreciation to the executives and members of the VRA Ladies Association for the donation. She stated that the donation had come at the right time considering the tough economic situation the institutions were going through.

The beneficiary institutions include the Junior Girls Correctional Centre, Shelter for Abused Children and Boys Remand Home; all located at South Labone in Accra.
