VRA Defeats TOR in CDH Tennis Tournament
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has defeated the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) in a 7-3 fiercely contested corporate networking tournament in Akosombo sponsored by CDH Financial Holdings.
The tournament which started with singles matches saw TOR winning 2 out of 3 matches. Paa Kofi Grant won the only singles match for VRA by beating Wiafe Kodom of TOR Seven (7) games to Three (3).
In a very competitive doubles match, the VRA club outshined the TOR tennis club with critical wins from Captain Alfred Okang and partner Paa Kofi Grant in seven (7) contests against P. Asmah and Edward Ababio which accounted for a 7-3 victory.
The Group Head, Corporate Communications of the CDH Financial Holdings Limited, Mr. Eric Adae, noted that his outfit has been sponsoring the tournament for the last four years as a way of contributing to promoting the lesser known sporting disciplines in the country.
Mr. Adae disclosed that the Group's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Adu Sarkodie, has had a long standing relationship with the Akosombo community and saw this as a platform to give back to the society, as well as the fact that VRA is an important brand to be associated with.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the VRA Tennis Club, Mr. Victor Avah, was grateful to the CDH Fiancial Holdings Limited for their support over the years and was hopeful they would continue to support the lesser known sporting disciplines in the country.
The Captain of the VRA Tennis Club, Mr. Alfred Okang, said beyond the competition, what mattered most was the fraternity between TOR and VRA which made the whole contest exciting. "The scores do not really matter but the relationship among us." He intimated.
Mr. Okang further praised his team for a formidable performance and wished they repeat a similar performance in their next contest.
