Press Release: Explosion at the Takoradi Combined Cycle Thermal Power Station
The Volta River Authority (VRA) wishes to inform its valued customers that a circuit breaker pole at the switchyard of the Takoradi Combined Cycle Thermal Plant exploded this morning.
Consequently, the steam turbine has been shut down for the next two days while the problem is being fixed.
The absence of the steam unit may have only minimal effect on the current load management exercise since load demand at the weekend is lower.
The VRA regrets any inconvenience this may cause to our valued customers.
