The mortal remains of the Late Headmaster of the basic department of the Akosombo International School (A.I.S), Mr. Shawn Kofi Kuwornu, has been interred at his home town in Dodome-Aveha in the Ho West District in the Volta Region.

Mr. Kuwornu joined the Volta River Authority (VRA) Basic School in October 16, 2000 as Graduate Master to teach Agricultural Science and Biology in Akosombo and Akuse International Schools. He rose through the ranks by dint of hard work to occupy various positions which included Senior Graduate Master and Principal Graduate Master on April 1, 2005 and October 1, 2010 respectively.
His continues ambition to soar high in his field of profession culminated in his appointment as Headmaster of the Akosombo Basic School on June 1, 2011; a position he held until his premature death on May 24, 2013 after a short illness.

A pre-burial service was organized in his honour on Thursday July 18, 2013 at the Mount Sinai Evangelical Presbyterian, Akosombo where he fellowshipped to precede activities slated for his journey.

The event which was characterized by reading of tributes with intermittent singing of hymnals to blend the occasion was well attended by family members, sympathizers, friends, loved ones, towns’ folk, students of A.I.S and colleagues who defiled a power outage that hit the country between 6:40 and 7:15 pm.

A large number of teachers and students had the opportunity to pay their last respects to the late Headmaster at the Akuse School, the Senior and Basic departments of A.I.S on Friday, July 19 as the school commenced an elaborate three-day funeral for their departed colleague and master.

His residence and school became the nerve centre of wailing, as students and relatives lined up on the shoulders of the road to pay their last respects to the man whose death spread like wild fire in the Akosombo Township.

Prayers were said by the Very Rev. Justice Amos Pobee, acting School Chaplain, at both his residence and the school to climax the first day of funeral activities. The funeral continued on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his hometown with the public viewing of the body which was climaxed with a pre-burial service and the final interment of the body at the Dodome Teleafenu cemetery.

In attendance were Mr. Isaac Aidoo, the Director Human Resources Department, Mr. Arnold Seshie, General Manager, VRA Schools, Mrs. Grace Mannieson Anancy; former Director, VRA Schools, Mr. E.K Tawiah, former Headmaster, A.I.S and a host of Teachers from Akosombo, Akuse and Aboadze.
