VRA Tennis Club Beats Army Mess Tennis Club

Veteran Tennis players of the VRA Tennis Club have beaten their opponents from the Army Mess Club in Accra by 9 games to 7 in a return leg of their friendly tournament hosted by the latter team in Accra.

The Army Mess team which had suffered an earlier defeat in the hands of its VRA opponent in Akosombo in the first leg gave full vent to the return encounter to redeem its image.
The VRA team which is gradually becoming a nemesis to the Army Mess team responded swiftly to a defeat meted to it in the singles event in which the Army Mess won by 4 games to 3.

The VRA's strong men comprising Alfred Okang (VRA team Captain), Ebenezer Grant and Nana Yaw Fumi got the needed wins for VRA when they recorded 7 -1, 7-6 and 7 – 0 respectively against Col. Yakubu Salifu, Paul Kudalor and Sampson Saibu of the Army team to turn round the fortunes of the team. Team VRA's dominance in the Doubles game made the final score count in its favour.

Acting Chief Executive Ing. Kirk Koffi, who is also the chief patron of the VRA team, spurred the players on with his presence to display great deal of resilience to overpower the Army team in the last four doubles game of the tournament.

The partnerships of Samuel Lamptey and Dr. Yaw Obeng Nsiah, Alfred Okang and Ebenezer Grant, Nana Kum and Samuel Akotuah and; Adu Sarkodie with Nana Yaw Fumiall recorded the need victories for the VRA team.
