Human Resources Department Holds Departmental Durbar

The Director of Human Resources of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Mr Isaac Aidoo, has applauded the Authority for achieving maximum positive industrial relations result during the 2013 labour year. He said the reduction in the number of internal industrial relation issues is an evidence of resolute measures that the Authority has put in place in the past year.

Mr. Isaac Aidoo made this known at a Human Resources (HR) Departmental durbar held at Akosombo.
The durbar was attended by managers and staff of the HR department within the Authority's various operational areas. He used the opportunity also to congratulate the staff of the Department for a successful 2013 despite the many challenges faced by the Authority.

Mr. Aidoo said there are lots of plans by management to help staff develop and enhance their capacity to ensure effective and efficient productivity. "Many people are not aware about this; an MPA programme is going to be ran by GIMPA for utility staff and each institution is going to be required to present 20 staff for the next four years and afterwards the arrangement will be renewed" he indicated.

He revealed that the Authority has been able to complete the review of HR policies and procedures and will soon start the second phase which will include the production of an abridged version of the policies for new staff upon employment.

He explained that the introduction of the HR policies and procedures will help prevent a lot of staff from pleading ignorance when it comes to issues of discipline and allow the system to work better.
