South Sudan National Legislative Assembly Delegation visits Akosombo Generating Station

A delegation from South Sudan’s National Legislative Assembly (NLA), Juba, has visited the Akosombo Generating Station (AGS) as part of a courtesy call on Ghana's parliament. The seven (7) member delegation was led by the Deputy Speaker of the NLA Hon. Jasmine Samuel Adakayi.

Conducting the delegation round the AGS on behalf of the Authority, the Chief Technician Engineer at the AGS, Mr. Foster Temeng, noted that the Authority was happy to share its success story with them.

In an interview with the Corporate Communications Unit after the tour, Hon. Jasmine Samuel Adakayi said she was overwhelmed by the massive infrastructural development at the Akosombo Generating Station and applauded the team at the AGS for a good work done especially the constant maintenance that has gone into Kwame Nkrumah's legacy over the years.

She commended the effort that has gone into power generation and reiterated that AGS is a good initiative because the availability of sustainable power tends to attact investors into the country hence bringing about development.

The Rapporteur to the delegation and Office Manager to the Deputy Speaker of the NLA, Mr. Moba Nathania Elikima, disclosed, among others, that South Sudan has a hydro power station known as the Juba Power Station which serves Juba Equitoria State.

The Chief Legal Advisor of the National Legislative Assembly Hon. Justice Edward Apinyi Modesto Okello was grateful to the Authority for the opportunity granted them to visit the AGS and hinted on future plans to send a delegation of engineers to the Authority in order to exchange ideas in the area of power generation.
