VRA Celebrates Kloyosikplemi Festival with Yilo Krobo

The chiefs and people of the Yilo krobo Traditional Area have celebrated their annual kloyosikplemi festival under the theme “Unity for Development”, at the Akutunya Park in Somanya.

The acting Konor,Osayem Tetteh Odorkor, in his good will message, said he was grateful for citizens of the kroboland for honoring and participating in this year’s festival. In his welcome address, he said, the festival marks the migration of their ancestors from the Krobo Mountains to their current place of abode. He was also grateful for citizens of the kroboland for honoring and participating in this year’s festival by showing commitmentand active participation. He further entreated them to strive hard in the coming year by addingvalue to its mango production. He took the opportunity to thank the government for improving water and the provision of boreholes in the Municipality.

Speaking at the function, the Eastern Regional Minister, Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith encouraged the youth to take education seriously since it holds the key to success and development. He advised them to desist from violence towards the coming election.

Ing. Isaac Kirk Koffie, Deputy Chief Executive (Engineering and Operations), who was the chairman of the planning committee said the celebration showcases the rich culture and tourist potential of YiloKroboto the outside world.  He said it was a period of stock-taking by families, and urged all toparticipate fully in all the programmes, comport themselves, exhibit love, respectone another and most of all, be mindful of the effect of social misbehavior to the detriment of the YiloState.

The Authority donated an amount of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis to support the festival and wished them well.
