VRA Top 100 Attend Workshop
Members of the VRA Top 100, during a one day conference on the theme “Towards Improved Productivity – Empowerment and Entrepreneurship” held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, were advised to “walk the talk”.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer of U.T. Bank Limited, speaking on the theme said improved productivity could fully be achieved if only the values of the Authority are allowed to permeate the entire organization and not only the top.
Mr. Amobeng said the success story of UT Bank is because the systems in the management of the company are allowed to work. He said the organization is successful because all the units are allowed to operate as has been set up with no interference, and recommended that the time has come for the Authority to operate as a Private Sector if it is to maintain its lead as the power producer of choice.
He encouraged members of the VRA Top 100 club to work assiduously and involve all members of staff in the strategic direction of the organization. It is only when all employees are part of the strategic direction of the organization that productivity could be improved. He encouraged the members to appreciate their staff, respect, encourage them and ensure that there are training opportunities to enhance their performance. It is only when there is an open door policy, where the lines of communication are open that all employees will work to the greater good of the company.
He added that when one is empowered, it promotes personal and professional growth, thus creating a sense of trust and importance to an organization as well as boost their confidence.
The Chief Executive of Volta River Authority (VRA), Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi in his welcome speech said the conference sought to build and equip members with the current strategies employed in achieving its vision of setting the Standard for Public Sector Excellence in Africa.
He further tasked them to take advantage of the workshop since it creates the platform for addressing issues that affect the authority’s work performance as well as ask questions that can drive VRA forward.
He entreated all participants to utilize these strategies in ensuring that the Authority achieve its aim of attaining Public Sector Excellence in Africa and beyond.
