Akosombo International School Holds Second Annual Graduation

The Akosombo International School (AIS) has held its second annual graduation ceremony to honour and pass out 370 students who have successfully completed their second cycle education in the school.

This year's event will go down in the pages of the school's history not only as the double graduating batch class of 2013 but also, a year group which had equal representation of males and females population of 185 candidates who sat for the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The occasion was used to usher the graduates into the Akosombo International School Old Students Association (AISOSA) with co-opted executives to administer the 2013 year group.

A Legal Practitioner, Mr. Anku-Tsede who is a Senior Partner of JLD and MB Legal Consultancy and an old student of AIS, encouraged the final year students to approach the realities of life with boldness and relegate shyness from their vocabulary. He counseled them to be watchful of shyness, challenges and success as they pursue their lifetime visions. Sharing his personal experiences with the students, he demonstrated that challenges will certainly be encountered as they go forward in life "but the way you deal with it would determine whether you would be successful or otherwise".

The Headmaster of the Secondary Department of AIS, Mr. Julius Kog-Der, giving a report on the state of the school stated that the school's focus had moved from being a welfare facility to a school of excellence in keeping with the VRA's vision of competing with its peers the world over. He stated that the school had continued to maintain an enviable one hundred per cent record in the WASSCE and stressed that, out of 158 candidates that sat for the exams last year, nine candidates scored straight A's in all subjects.

He announced that the school will soon introduce a purely foreign programme which will lead to the acquisition of certificates such as the Baccalaureate and TOEFL to students as part of its curricular obligations.

Present were some members of the 1985 year group which included Apostle Mrs. Lyanne Koffi; the General Overseer of the Lord's Garden Ministry.
